A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ICONSERVE

iConserve is a local based non-profit organization registered in Kenya and working with local communities in promoting sustainable natural resource use and biodiversity conservation. Formed in 2010, the organization works on projects that protect the environment and help communities adapt to adverse effects of climate change.

Why We Matter

Community Awareness and Education

iConserve actively engages with local the communities to raise awareness about environmental issues. We educate locals on sustainable practicesconservation, and how individual actions impact the environment. This grassroots level of education fosters a culture of environmental stewardship.

By addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainability, iConserve helps in building resilience against climate change and other environmental stresses. This ensures that the community is better prepared to face future challenges.

iConserve often conduct monitoring and research to track environmental changes and assess the health of local ecosystems. This data is invaluable for identifying trends, assessing the effectiveness of conservation efforts, and informing future actions such as policy and resource mobilization.

Olgah Hellens: Co-Founder and Director

Is a researcher and a graduate student as Maseno University (Kenya) and The Open University (UK). She completed her bachelors education in Environmental Sciences at Maasai Mara University. In addition she is also trained as a Forest Carbon Champion by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the Improving Measure for Payment to Reduce Emissions and Strengthen Sinks (IMPRESS) project. She successfully completed training on the mapping of forest disturnbances and forest restoration using high density time series analysis (SEPAL) platfrom. She has skills on what it takes to prepare Kenya for engaging with the international car-bon finance mechanisms.

Moses Odhiambo: Founder and Sustainability Director

Has a Masters degree in Bioscience Engineering (Environmental Science) from Ghent University (Belgium) and a Masters Degree in Science for Sustainable Development from Linköping University (Sweden). He is also a co-founder of iConserve a local NGO in Kisumu car-rying out environmental conservation and research specif-ically around the Lake Victoria Basin. He has carried out projects in United States (Seattle), Bolivia, Uganda and Tanzania. He has received other trainings including Re-sponsible Forest Management and Sustainable Forest Product Supply Chains (Bristol, UK)
